Payet -Can you really blame him ?
This season the team has gone backwards ,the recruitment in pre-season has been as bad as i can ever remember in all the years of supporting west ham and he wants to play in a team with better players and a better chance of winning things and qualifying for the champions league. He is 30 years old after all and it's a short career

The only suprising thing is he wants to leave for Marseille ,currently sixth in a piss poor french league. I reckon that is not where he will end up.

Putting emotion aside can you really blame him?

TBH, other than the wages, what incentive is there to stick around when half the crowd might fuck off if you go 3-0 down...

drop in form lead to a drop in price no coincidence

Re: Payet -Can you really blame him ?
I didn't really see last Summer's transfer window as a lot different from the Summer before (when we signed Payet).

The signing of Payet was a bit of a risk and also quite cheap. If it hadn't worked out we would have been saying things like "cheapskates" and "what did you expect". We also had some luck with our other transfers in the same window.

But last Summer things just didn't work out as well - as epitomised by Ayew's injury.

So, basically, he should have kept his head down, helped us through a tricky patch, and kept us in a position where we could continue our improvement.

He's a dick.

Don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere but does anyone know if Payet's pay has been stopped? If he has refused to play for West Ham then that is surely what should happen and I would have thought the club would be well within their rights.

After the Euros in the summer - he caught a dose of the big time charlieitis and from then on we were buggered...

Swap him for Isco or Kovacevic at Real Madrid...They can't sit on the bench forever...

Not blame him because we aren't pushing for the league or cups - poor little sod only getting £120k a week - don't remember us winning anything before he came.

What a fucking strange thing to say - course you can blame the fat, stroppy, French cunt.

I hope he fucks off out of our club as soon as possible and goes to another English club so we can hammer the cunt when he comes back.

tbf his recall to the French team had as much to do with Valbuena and Benzema not playing due to the weird blackmail plot!

Re: Payet -Can you really blame him ?
In regard to the fact that he epitomises the modern day, no-loyalty, big money, self-promoting entity footballer and that he is doing what most of them would do, then you can't blame him.

The fact that he's put himself nicely in the window with some half decent performances last season, resulting in him being drafted back into the French squad and into the limelight for a big money last move you can't blame him for that either.

However, for the well below par performances and generally shit attitude that we've seen this season resulting in this current debacle the bloke needs to be removed from our club as quickly as possible.

The elevation of Payet by the club to near legend status after such a short space of time is frankly embarrassing and the fact that they failed to build a 'world class' team around him and that he now wants to leave is typical West Ham.

So there is blame to throw around at a number of different people. Whether he would have still wanted to leave and join a 'big club' even if we had signed more decent players is not known.

There's no way we would have been transformed into Champions League contenders without spending the kind of money unheard of in the types of transfers that our owners are involved in generally.

But even if they had bought big this summer there would have been every chance that we would still not be challenging for a top 6 place and that he would have been wanting away in any case.

From a fans' point of view he should be sold as quickly as possible to the very highest bidder for no less than £30 million and never be allowed to put on a West Ham shirt again.

jack

ive said this a few times in the past day on different threads but marseille have recently been taken over, it looks to me that his family want to move back to france and have done sine the summer, so he was biding his time waiting for the marseille take over to be finalised before trying to force a move.

Re: Payet -Can you really blame him ?
I get the impression that this has been going on for a while, certainly since before the start of the season when he was allegedly too tired to join in with our pre-season following the Euros

He came back looking unfit & overweight, & still does

He looks disinterested & apart from his last minute goal against Accrington has done virtually nothing this season. A ghost of the player he was last season

He isn't prepared to work on the pitch by tracking back & has a history of having a toxic dressing room attitude

His behaviour is almost as if he wants us to get relegated so he can trigger a release clause in his contract

He has clearly been tapped up

Can you really blame him? Yes, of course, he's acting like a total cunt

I can't see him playing for us again, & certainly not this season

Re: Payet -Can you really blame him ?
Yes, you absolutely and unequivocally can blame him without any hesitation whatsoever. It is entirely his fault and nobody else's.

People are too quick to find other people to blame in order to fit their own agendas. This is a player who has chosen not to work hard enough at his club because he does not want to be here - all his choices.

Dimitri Payet is to blame and nobody else.

Any person that even has any sympathy for Payet over this is basically just as much as a cunt as the bloke himself. Obviously just my opinion.

Re: Payet -Can you really blame him ?
Maybe if he bothered to put in the effort he did last season, then we'd win more games, and we'd actually be the big successful club like the one he wants to play for?

Fuck him. Hope he gets injured in his first game for whoever we sell him to and never plays/walks again.

Re: Payet -Can you really blame him ?
Looks like payet was fed the same bullshit as us in the summer regarding players in. Except he's not a fan or very loyal in general do decided he wants out.
